MONTRÉAL / RESTAURANTS — In Montréal, we eat well. The recipe? A successful blend of influences! First we took a solid base of French cooking, then we added a generous helping of knowledge gleaned from the Aboriginals and different cultural communities, we mixed it all together and voilà! The result is modern Québec cuisine, enhanced by the use of quality regional products. A new generation of inspired chefs invites you to sample its menus—some of which are among the continent’s finest. The first inhabitants of Québec—for the most part peasant farmers—prepared hearty meals to help them face the harshness of everyday life. A style of home cooking, based on the French tradition, deve-loped over the centuries and feature local fish, game, fruits and vegetables. Tourtière, cipaille (a layered meat pie), baked beans, pork roast, cretons (a kind of pork pâté), sugar pie and buckwheat pancakes are just a few examples of these traditional dishes. While some of these remain everyday fare, others are served on special occasions like big family dinners during the Holiday Season.  Traditional recipes are adapted to reflect today’s tastes by chefs at major restaurants, which also offer a large selection of fine Québec products, such as foie gras, magret de canard (duck cutlet), caviar de corrégone and ice wine. These regional products give Québec cooking its own identity, much to the delight of gourmets! Looking for something exotic? You’ll find ethnic cuisine from the four corners of the world in Montréal, where you can sample sushi, Portuguese tapas, Thai dishes, Lebanese specialties … and much more! The rich mosaic of international flavours offered in restaurants bears witness to the diversity of cultures that make up the Montréal of today.

La Palma

250 Boulevard René-Lévesque O, Montréal, QC H2Z 1M1

The brand new La Palma restaurant is situated in the AC Marriott Hotel in the heart of downtown Montreal, on René-Lévesque West corner of Bleury. It is a rare establishment of fine Spanish cuisine in the metropolis. The decor of an absolute chic, resolutely contemporary amazes those who set foot for the first time. Chef David Chapelle and the service team are from the late University Club. They know how to wow this posh circle. They kept the same professionalism. You have to taste their paella with three meats, as well as their incredible appetizers. This is the perfect setting to sing the serenade to the loved one. A romantic base that is already the envy of the competition. And try their $ 20 breakfasts with a little revolution in the art of serving this first essential meal of the day. We give without hesitation the note of excellence to La Palma.

The concept quickly won over the taste buds of Quebecers. Fan of the pleasures of the table, its creators did not stop there. They pushed the exploration of flavors inspired by tastes from here and elsewhere to pop the pizza in all its forms and develop a menu of gourmet pizzas (over twenty choices) of course, but also pasta, wraps, to veal cutlets , salads and delicious desserts, all handcrafted concocted without preservatives or chemical additives. a service very courteous and very friendly in a cozy atmosphere. Chez Bouffe Café Bistro

4316 Rue Sainte-Catherine E, Montréal, QC H1V 1X9
T. 514-252-5420  www.chezbouffe.ca

Chez Bouffe it’s like home. This small restaurant located in Hochelaga offers a very warm atmosphere with its beams, its floor, its walls of bricks and its menu with the slate. We love the small lounge where we wait for the other guests, well installed in vintage sofas. The menu offers classic dishes (with seasonal products, from here and elsewhere), but well conducted: fish and chips, tartar, vegetable burger or rib, with also some more amazing suggestions like the elk tongue. The service is relaxed and friendly, just like the cozy atmosphere of the restaurant. A plus for the well-stocked wine list, which includes many natural wines. Simple and efficient.
