The Montréal Pride Festival unveiled the free outdoor shows of its 2018 edition to be held at parc des Faubourgs next August 9 to 19. With over 150 activities scheduled, festival goers will be treated to an outstanding and richly diversified program. Parity among the incredible line up of international and local headliners assembled by Montreal Pride promises great revelry and fun for all! Deborah Cox, Todrick Hall, Calum Scott, Mia Martina, Samantha Fox, Peaches, Bianca Del Rio, Ada Vox and Princess Nokia are but a few of the internationally acclaimed performers who will be joining our favorite local artists Laurence Nerbonne, Milk & Bone, Sylvie Desgroseilliers, Tamara Weber Filion and Michel Dorion to celebrate our communities of sexual and gender diversity.

“We are extremely proud of the 2018 programming of the Montréal Pride Festival with 11 days of on-going celebrations! This year, we have focused on a diversified program that will allow festival goers to alternate between the main outdoor TD stage and the interior Casino de Montréal stage, both of which are located at the parc des Faubourgs. To make it happen, we have expanded the number of headliners so that everyone’s expectations will be met,” says Éric Pineault, President.

Central Stage — TD Stage

An explosive launch of the Festival is scheduled on the evening of August 10, on this huge outdoor stage! Following the opening ceremony with Indigenous People’s representatives and a set by Montréal’s DJ Barbada, Michel Dorion will take over the stage for the presentation of Illusion, a grand show with 40 of the best Drag Queens Quebec has to offer along with a special performance by Ada Vox of American Idol fame! Other surprises will be announced shortly!

On Saturday August 11, it will be singer Tamara Weber-Fillion’s turn to tug at spectators’ heartstrings with her unique voice and vocals. She will be followed by the Femmes de tête spectacle featuring only women who totally or in part identify with the female gender, performing under the direction of Laurence Nerbonne! She will be joined by DJ Debbie Tebbs, Naya Ali, Donzelle and Milk & Bone for what promises to be a provocative Femininity-themed evening. Who says parity cannot be achieved in a festival?

The first weekend of celebrations will culminate on Sunday August 12 with a notably trendy T-Dance! Parc des Faubourgs will be raised to unknown heights by the music of DJ On1T, Bamboo Hermann and Kiddy Smile with a special appearance by Canada’s own Denique LeBlanc!

After a brief two-day pause —Monday and Tuesday closing— parc des Faubourgs opens Wednesday August 15 to welcome all comers to the Excellence show, an extravaganza featuring Queer, Trans and artists of color, who will be accompanied by the hard-line hip-hop performances of the renowned Princess Nokia and Big Freedia!

On Thursday August 16, all the fans of the Rupaul’s Drag Race TV show will most likely all congregate at parc des Faubourgs for the largest ever edition of the popular Drag Superstars presented by MAC Cosmetics show! Hosted by the ever so subtle Bianca Del Rio, this hilarious and impressive presentation will feature several of the Queens we saw in the reality TV show’s many editions, including: Adore Delano, Aja, Bebe Zahara Bennett, Darienne Lake, Kameron Michaels, Miz Cracker, Monét X Change, Morgan McMichaels, Ongina, Pangina Heals, Pearl and Shangela!

A complete atmosphere change will be in store for the continuing celebration on August 17 with a completely CLASH evening being presented for the first time in the Montréal Pride Festival’s history. DJ Frigid will get things underway with a frenzied set. Then, Van Hechter will take things over until the U.S. – based Fischerspooner group step up to the plate. To top off the already exciting evening, the Queen of the Underground and internationally acclaimed Canadian artist Peaches will propel the remainder of the evening into a most memorable event!

Expect crowds from here and from everywhere for the August 18 grand Jet Set “soirée” as the great stages Las Vegas will have nothing on what will be happening here! The Montréal Pride Festival is tempted to stick our chest out in announcing the exceptional performances of four internationally acclaimed and talented artists Mia Martina (Stereo Love, Heartbraker, etc.), Deborah Cox (Nobody’s Supposed to Be Here, Absolutely Not, etc.), Calum Scott (Dancing on my own, Britain’s Got Talent) and Todrick Hall (Dem Beats, Kinky Boots, American Idol, etc.)!

For the final day on Sunday August 19, the main TD stage will be the venue for the Mega T-Dance, the greatly sought-after event by the festival goers from around the world! The line-up this year’s artists vying to keep us all dancing to their beats includes Spanish DJ and producer DJ Suri, the electrifying and legendary DJ Morabito and back by popular demand, DJ Hex Hector whose name is synonymous with the best remixes of our greatest pop stars. No such celebration would be complete without the special performance by none other than Samantha Fox, the uncontested idol of the 80s and 90s.

Casino de Montréal Stage

The programming for the Casino de Montréal stage which is indoors and located an air-conditioned tent, will most likely leave you speechless but the shows will no doubt make you find your voice again. As of August 11, the show Place à la relève, hosted by the duo Les Brutes, will feature several emerging LGBTQ+ artists from across Quebec, including: DJ Giant, DelicatesSound, Spectroom, Victor Quinlan, Silver Catalano, Edwin-Lain Martineauas well as Queen Lactatia and Lilou-Sion! Fearless in its reliance on diversity, the Montréal Pride Festival will crown this evening with a performance by the dance company KDN company whose mission it is to promote the importance of representation for the members of the sexual and gender diversity communities as well as of blacks, indigenous people and people of color within the dance industry and in the mainstream media.

Are you familiar with “balls”, the voguing events so popular in New-York City? The Montréal Pride Festival invites you to participate in the second edition of its POP KiKi Ball, on August 12! The “Mother of Montréal”, Gerard X Reyes, has brought together three very bright stars of the New York scene for this evening of unity and pride; they are MC Princess Ebony, DJ MikeQ and the iconic Chi Chi Unbothered Mizrahi.

On Wednesday August 15, country dance lovers will be over the top as the Club Bolo team will be on hand to perform and then provide country dance training to all present! The extravagant and cheeky cabaret presentation of Ste. Céline: A New, New Day, starringTranna Wintour and Thomas Leblanc will follow with a performance that (lovingly) scratches the varnish of the one and only Céline Dion! They will then leave the stage for the celebration of Jimmy Moore’s 20-year anniversary on stage! Whether he is channelling Madonna, Michael Jackson, Céline Dion, Mariah Carey, Tina Turner or Lady Gaga, Jimmy Moore will dazzle you with his convincing personifications of our pop icons.

The Women of Soul (Femmes de Soul) Evening slated for August 17, has singer Sylvie Desgroseillers celebrating the history and music of the major iconic female African American singers who were first and foremost women of soul. Spectator will embark on a journey into the sung and narrated lives of some of those women who marked their era such as Josephine Baker, Mahalia Jackson, Billie Holiday, Celia Cruz, Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner, Donna Summer, Gladys Knight and the much-mourned Whitney Houston and several others.

On August 18, it will be DJ Sam’s turn to set the dance floor on fire! Having performed at the four corners of the world, including Africa, Europe and North America, his inspiration comes from his travels and he will be offering up a set of house, afro, deep and funky sounds!

For the grand finale on August 19, an evening of essential disco will take place with the presentation of Mondo Disko, an ode to endless night life inspired by 20 years of musical culture revisited and served up with a 2018 twist. Make sure you do not miss the wild rhythms of Robert Ouimet, Charles Poulin, Lost Heroes and Hollie Hensman!

The complete program includes over 150 activities and is available on Montreal Pride web site and its mobile application.
